A mechanic known as RJ recently saved a life during a normal workday. While working at Midas Auto Shop in Shakopee, Minnesota, he heard a dull sound coming from a dumpster. At first he assumed it was a raccoon looking for a snack, but something made him check.
RJ’s curiosity ended up saving the life of an innocent puppy that had been abused before ending up in a dumpster. If RJ hadn’t been so observant, the puppy might have gone unnoticed for far too long. But now the pup is living his best life despite his difficult past.

Puppy in the trash
RJ suspected something was wrong when he heard a thump inside the dumpster. Looking inside, he found the backpack moving, but it wasn’t making any sounds. So he carefully opened it and saw the cutest puppy with his eyes.
“I opened it and the dog literally slowly raised its head and looked up and I didn’t even know what to say. “I almost started crying,” RJ said

Luckily, the puppy was dumped in the dumpster after the garbage was taken out, so RJ found it just in time. The dog was zipped up in a hot pack with nothing to eat or drink. RJ decided to name the puppy Midas because he said the dog needed to be named before it could be taken to the vet.
At the vet, the staff confirmed that Midas had many signs of abuse. He has a broken jaw and a bacterial infection in his lungs, but is currently being treated for both.
The worst day turns into the best day
After taking him to the vet, RJ knew he couldn’t part with the puppy. He plans to adopt him if all goes well. However, he said that if Midas was kidnapped and had a good master, he would give him up. But first he will need serious evidence.

The Shakopee Police Department is using this story to remind dog parents not to abandon their dogs in this manner. There are many more humane options for re-homing a dog, such as taking it to a shelter or rescue.

“Although this story had a happy ending, everything could have been very different. If you are a pet owner and have to surrender the animal, we advise you to do so humanely. With social media and the Internet at our fingertips, there is no shortage of options to find someone willing to rehome your pet. Please be kind to our animal friends!” – wrote in the police department.
The only thing in the backpack, besides Midas, was a dummy grill and several plastic bags. Therefore, it is not clear who left him and why, but the most important thing is that he is safe now. He started his day in a dump, but ended it with a loving family that takes care of him. This is the best possible result!
