Jasper, a nine-week-old German Shepherd and Staffordshire Bull Terrier mix, was exploring his backyard in Queensland, Australia, when he came upon a carpet python that had just popped out of the nearby bushes.
As Jasper struggled to break free, he eventually gave up and lay on his side as the python gripped him tighter. He screamed for help until Michelle van Schoeven, his owner, finally heard him.

“I got to the end of the patio and I just froze and then I screamed because I just saw this … python circling around it,” van Schoeven told 7News.
As soon as she realized what was happening, she hit the snake with a cardboard Christmas wrapping, but it only tightened its grip on her beloved puppy.

She then grabbed the snake’s body and shook it violently until it released the dog. Jasper was bitten on the ear but has since recovered and is unharmed thanks to his owner’s quick actions. The snake was also fine and was safely relocated after the incident.

Snake attacks on cats and dogs have increased in recent days, according to snake relocation expert Stuart McKenzie. He advises pet owners to keep a close eye on their pets, especially if they are small.
The terrible ordeal was caught on a surveillance camera, which you can watch in the video below!
