Every time you buy products at iHeartDogs Store, a portion of the proceeds goes to Greater Good Charities, an organization that helps many animals in need. Greater Good Charities’ GOODS Program donates food and other necessities to shelters and rescues to help them better support the animals in their care. Many rescue dogs are now living better thanks to donations from the GOODS program.
Ginger and Bella, two dogs rescued by The Underdogs Rescue, Inc. in Oklahoma, both benefited greatly from the GOODS program. Both came out of their shells during the rescue operation and the donations helped them gain the confidence to find forever homes.
Ginger was taken in by rescuers after she went to the old man’s house when she was in bad shape. She was very thin which indicated that she had never eaten good healthy food before. She also looked like she had recently given birth, but there were no puppies around her at the time. The man could not afford to take care of her alone, so he turned to Underdogs Rescue for help.
Bella was also found as a stray, but she was incredibly shy. When an animal control officer found her, she was too scared to even go near people. So, Underdogs Rescue knew they would have to be patient and gentle with her.
Luxury products for shelter dogs
Underdogs Rescue, Inc. receives many life-changing materials from the GOODS program, such as toys, reflective collars, stainless steel bowls, and soft blankets. While these items may seem like everyday pet items, Ginger and Bella weren’t used to having these things before they were rescued. So both dogs quickly fell in love with the toys, wanting to play with them as much as possible.
Both dogs recovered during their stay at the rescue. Ginger had put on some weight, and her body was left with scabs that had healed. Over time, Bella began to trust people. Because they had made such great progress in salvation, they were soon ready to depart for their forever homes.
Donations for supplies can be important to animal welfare organizations because it allows them to focus their funds on other areas of care, such as veterinary needs and education.
“We would like to thank the GOODS program for this amazing grant. “Stainless steel bowls are like gold with dogs who like to nibble,” wrote The Underdogs Rescue. “The collars are beautiful and so desirable. One of the luxuries we can afford: toys, toys, toys! Puppies are very happy to be able to play with interesting things.”
